The Foreign Relations Committee heard the Activity Report of the Parliamentary Delegation to EuroNest PA for 2022 introduced by the Head of the Delegation, Maka Botchorishvili.
“Last year was quite complicated. The Russian aggression against Ukraine shattered the scheduled Parliamentary Assembly sessions, though we had the opportunity to convene the Committee meetings and work within the Bureau format”, - she stated and dwelt on the EuroNest PA Committee meetings held in Yerevan, Armenia, convened for the consideration of the reports developed within the Committees.
As noted, the report of the Energy Security Committee has been co-authored by Delegation member Maia Bitadze.
M. Botchorishvili underlined that the meetings in Yerevan coincided with the period when the situation in Ukraine was becoming extremely tense and hence, as the EuroNest PA Bureau and namely the Co-Chairs – Maka Botchorishvili and Andrius Kubilius opted, the statement of the Bureau has been developed condemning the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions by Russia, and supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
M. Botchorishvili touched upon the EuroNest PA Bureau agenda, including the consideration of the situation and challenges in the EaP countries.
