The Legal Issues Committee discussed in the first reading amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia, which provide for the removal of Paragraph 7 of Article 143⁹ (Notification Regarding Covert Investigative Activities).
The draft law was presented at the committee session by the Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Archil Gorduladze.
According to the proposed amendment, prosecutors will no longer be obliged to immediately notify a person about covert investigative activities conducted in relation to crimes involving heightened public danger (as defined by Paragraph 6 of Article 143⁹ of the Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia) immediately after a final decision is made in the criminal case.
The Legal Issues Committee supported forwarding the draft law to the plenary session for consideration.
