Culture Committee Discussed Amendments to the Law on Licenses and Permits in the II Reading

The Culture Committee discussed, under an expedited procedure and in the II reading, amendments to the Law of Georgia “On Licenses and Permits” and supported the proposed changes.

According to the amendments, the Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly will be granted the authority to determine the procedures for the preparation and approval of construction documentation related to works on cultural heritage monuments.

According to Chair of the Culture Committee Giorgi Gabunia, only editorial changes were introduced to the draft law after the I reading, while the substantive provisions remained unchanged.

He stated that the proposed amendments would significantly improve procedures related to cultural heritage and rehabilitation processes in Tbilisi and create more flexible and efficient mechanisms.

According to Giorgi Gabunia, it is essential to conduct comprehensive studies of issues related to cultural heritage in Tbilisi, especially in areas where cultural heritage monuments are concentrated.

As he noted, art historians and field experts should be actively involved in the process.
