As part of his visit to Austria, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee and Head of the Parliamentary Delegation to the OSCE PA,
Nikoloz Samkharadze, held a meeting with the newly elected PACE President,
Petra Bayr.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including the return of the Georgian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
According to Nikoloz Samkharadze, he stated during the discussion that the Georgian side is ready to present its delegation to the Assembly, but only if the delegation’s credentials are recognized without any preconditions.
He noted that Georgia cannot agree to any unfair conditions imposed by any organization for the recognition of the delegation’s authority.
“In my conversation with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, I emphasized that if the credentials of the Georgian delegation are fully and unconditionally recognized, Georgia is ready to return to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe”, - Nikoloz Samkharadze stated.
The meeting also addressed the country’s internal political situation, issues related to elections, and the ongoing legislative process.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Austria and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the OSCE and the International Organizations in Vienna, Alexander Maisuradze.
