
As part of his official visit to the United States, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Brendan Hanrahan.
The meeting focused on issues of importance to both countries. Particular emphasis was placed on the alignment of values between the Government of Georgia and the new Administration of the United States.
The parties discussed areas of cooperation aimed at delivering mutual benefits to Georgia and the United States.
“At the meeting, I reaffirmed that we are ready to begin work on a new agreement that will be mutually beneficial. We identified several areas that will strengthen our renewed cooperation”, - Nikoloz Samkharadze stated.
The discussion also addressed Georgia’s security challenges and the threats arising from Russia’s occupation of Georgia’s regions. Attention was given to ongoing developments in the region and their impact on Georgia’s security.
The development of the Middle Corridor was also discussed.
“During the meeting with the Assistant Secretary of State, we also discussed the development of the ‘Middle Corridor,’ including the ‘Trump Route.’ I noted that the Georgian side welcomes the implementation of the ‘Trump Route,’ as we consider it not an alternative to the Middle Corridor and Georgia’s route, but rather a complementary factor”, - Nikoloz Samkharadze stated.
The parties further discussed economic cooperation and the participation of American companies in major economic projects.
Nikoloz Samkharadze is on an official visit to the United States, where he is holding meetings with representatives of the U.S. legislative and executive branches.
