Meeting of Parliamentary Delegation, Headed by Irakli Beraia, with Minister of State for the Armed Forces of the UK

During their visit to London, the delegation of the Defense and Security Committee, led by Irakli Beraia, had a meeting with the Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Hon James Heappey, at the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom.

The discussion at the meeting revolved around several key topics, including the current situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, security challenges in the region, ongoing and implemented reforms to enhance defense capabilities, transformation initiatives, mechanisms of defense cooperation between the two countries, and Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration process.

The Georgian delegation stressed the importance of increasing the involvement of the United Kingdom and NATO in the region, underscored the significance of UK support in implementing the 10-year development plans for the Georgian defense forces, and emphasized the need to expedite Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration.

The British side expressed its commitment to actively support Georgia in these areas and further deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The Georgian legislators conveyed their gratitude to the high-ranking British official for his contributions to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and defense cooperation between Georgia and the United Kingdom.

Participants in the meeting included Irakli Chikovani, Vice-Chairman of the Parliament and Member of the Defense and Security Committee; Aleksandre Tabatadze, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee; Khatia Tsilosani, First Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee and Member of the Defense and Security Committee. The Georgian Ambassador to the UK, Sofia Katsarava, was also present.
