The Parliament elected Shalva Papuashvili on the position of the Speaker with the votes of 88 MPs.

The election of the Speaker was the last issue of the agenda, which was followed by the performance of the State Anthem of Georgia.

Before being elected, Mr. Papuashvili addressed the Members of Parliament.

Shalva Papuashvili was elected as a Member of the Parliament of the 10th Term through the party list of the “Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia” on October 31, 2020. On December 15, 2020, he was elected as the First Deputy Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, and promoted to the position of the Chair of the Committee on March 31, 2021. Mr. Papuashvili was elected as the Chairman of the Parliament of the 10th Term on December 29, 2021.
