At a plenary session on 3 February 2026, the Parliament approved, with 88 votes, the draft parliamentary resolution on the establishment of the Interim Commission of the Parliament of Georgia to Study the Pricing Structure of Food Products, Medicines, and Fuel.

The draft resolution was introduced by Irakli Kirtskhalia, Chair of Georgian Dream faction.

Within the scope of its mandate, the commission will ensure a transparent and objective examination of the mechanisms for the formation of prices of food products, medicines, and fuel.

The commission will elaborate and prepare relevant conclusions and recommendations.

The term of office of the commission is set at three months. The number of commission members, as well as the quotas for factions and political groups, will be determined at a sitting of the Procedural Issues Committee.

“When the commission begins its work, the public will have the opportunity to follow live the important process that will take place in the legislative body and which is also ongoing within the framework of the government commission. We will discuss ways to address the issue solely together with businesses and with their involvement. I am confident that together we will find solutions and resolve this problem,” - stated Irakli Kirtskhalia.

The commission will commence its work on 5 February 2026.
