The Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee reviewed the “2025 Report on Employment Policy Planning and Implementation” presented by the Government of Georgia.
According to the reporter, Deputy IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Affairs Minister Giorgi Tsagareishvili, the main priorities of the State Employment Support Agency in 2025 were: expanding the geographical coverage of services and programs, providing maximum support to vulnerable groups, adapting programs to real market demands, and strengthening the institution itself.
Giorgi Tsagareishvili spoke about the activities and measures implemented by the Agency in each priority area.
According to him, based on identified needs, the Agency operates offices in 16 municipalities across the country, while in certain municipalities it carries out activities through mobile teams dispatched from regional centers.
As Giorgi Tsagareishvili noted, the Ministry’s budget for employment-related programs is increasing.
“We are purposefully increasing funding in those areas where we believe it will produce tangible results. For example, the internship subsidy was GEL 300 two years ago, then increased to GEL 400, and this year it amounts to GEL 500. As a result, the number of internship applicants has quadrupled. Based on these results, this year we introduced an internship subsidy component for mountainous regions, and we already have the first beneficiaries. In this direction, we are closely cooperating with the Education, Science and Youth Ministry and the Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry”, - the Deputy Minister stated.
Giorgi Tsagareishvili answered questions from Committee members.
According to the Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, Irakli Kadagishvili, it is important that the state has already established a systemic approach to employment policy.
“Naturally, the implementation of this policy is accompanied by the acquisition of new information and the emergence of new challenges. It is very important to address all these issues promptly. Interesting data has been presented, and the prospects for improving this dynamic are quite significant. All the necessary primary legislative and executive mechanisms exist for this purpose. Based on the presented report, the Committee positively evaluates your activities”, - Irakli Kadagishvili noted.
