The Committee heard the Activity Report of the Parliamentary Delegation to the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC) for 2022, introduced by the Head of the Delegation, Maka Botchorishvili.
According to the Co-Chair of the PAC, the Committee held two meetings through the rotation in Brussels and Georgia attended by the Parliamentary Delegation members and the executive authority officials of Georgia. The meetings were dedicated to the deliberation on the EUAA implementation process, ongoing and scheduled democratic reforms in the country, the human rights state, implementation of the DCFTA and the situation on the occupied territories.
“We set the priority to at a maximal extent take the advantage of this format to converse about cooperation with the EU in various sectors and that’s why, at the meeting in Brussels, the Georgian Delegation offered to consider the issues related to the integration of Georgia to the EU uniform digital market and the environmental protection and European “Green Deal”, - she noted, highlighting that at the meeting in September, the Committee overviewed the cooperation in the EU connectivity, including the Georgia-EU partnership in the transport, logistics, energy and digital connectivity spheres, as well as the employment, public healthcare, social policy and the national health strategy.
“The September meeting was convened after Georgia has made the EU membership application. Georgia has already had received 12 recommendations from the EU and the Parliament of Georgia was in the process of compliance thereto and thus, we had the opportunity to introduce this process and hear the positions of MEPs, which have been reflected in the statement made by the EU PAC Co-Chair, Marina Kaljurand, where she gave a positive assessment to the significant progress of Georgia in terms of the implementation of the Association Agreement and DCFTA, which is an immense step forward to the political, economic and sector integration with the EU”, - she added.
