The Parliament has begun consideration of amendments to the Law “On Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, Precursors, and Narcological Assistance,” initiated by the Government of Georgia.

According to the amendments, new substances will be added to the lists of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and precursors.

Specifically, under the draft law, 15 new substances will be added to the list of narcotic drugs subject to strict restrictions on circulation, as provided for in Annex No. 1 to the Law“On Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, Precursors, and Narcological Assistance”; one new substance will be added to the list of psychotropic substances; and 18 substances will be added to the table of precursors.

In addition, pursuant to Annex No. 2 of the same Law (the list of small, large, and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances seized from illegal possession or circulation), 15 new substances will be added to the list of narcotic drugs, and one new substance will be added to the list of psychotropic substances.

The Bureau has designated the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee as the lead committee for consideration of the draft law.
