Shalva Papuashvili met with the Secretary of the Committee of China’s Shaanxi Province

Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili met with the Secretary of the Committee of China’s Shaanxi Province and Chair of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Congress, Zhao Yide.

Shalva Papuashvili emphasized the importance of meeting with the leadership of Shaanxi Province and highlighted the province’s historical and economic role. According to him, ancient civilization and modern technologies are successfully combined in Shaanxi Province.

The parties positively assessed relations between Georgia and China, which have evolved into a strategic partnership. It was underlined that bilateral cooperation is deepening in many areas.

It was noted that cooperation at the local and regional levels complements interstate relations and delivers important practical results. During the meeting, attention was drawn to the fact that the twinning process between Georgian and Chinese cities has become more active. The parties expressed readiness to deepen institutional ties and discussed cooperation in the fields of culture and education. According to Shalva Papuashvili, Shaanxi Province possesses a rich historical and cultural heritage, which provides an important foundation for cultural diplomacy.

While discussing transport and logistics issues, the parties considered opportunities for the further utilization of transit routes, particularly the Middle Corridor.

The meeting took place within the framework of Shalva Papuashvili’s official visit to the People's Republic of China.

The delegation led by the Speaker of Parliament includes First Vice Speaker of the Parliament and Head of the Georgia-China Parliamentary Friendship Group Giorgi Volski; Vice Speakers Nino Tsilosani and Sozar Subari; Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze; and Chair of the Agriculture Committee Gela Samkharauli.
