
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, met with the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan.
During the meeting, it was noted that the frequency of high-level visits and the productive bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Armenia reflect the successful development of their strategic partnership.
The parties discussed the strong parliamentary ties, as well as successful cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, and tourism.
They also reviewed the current situation in the South Caucasus, including developments in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the process of improving relations between Armenia and Turkey. The importance of these processes for ensuring regional peace was emphasized.
Alen Simonyan also spoke about the parliamentary elections planned in Armenia.
The meeting was held within the framework of the 152nd IPU General Assembly, taking place in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey. The delegation led by the Speaker includes the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, and the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze.
