Mirian Shvelidze

was born in 1947. In 1971 he graduated Tbilisi Art Academy. He is an independent painter and takes part in modertn artists' exhibitions. Mirian Shvelidze has a 20 year experience in Rustaveli theatre. Among his works we can name Sturua's well-known performances: Kvarkvare, Richard III, King Lear. His most successful works in 1990ths are: The Kind Man of Sechuan, Macbeth, Lamara. As a set-designer he also worked abroad, particularly, in Russia, Turkey, Israel and Germany. In 1994-96 he was a set-designer of several well-known operas produced in Georgia.

Georgi Alexi-Meskhishvili

was born in 1941. In 1967 he graduated Tbilisi Art Academy and from 1975 he is the main designer of the Rustaveli theatre. He is thought to be a painter with acute theatrical sense. By poor even means used in the scenography of the Caucasian Chalk Circle, he reaches the variety of expressive effects. To create the place of action for heroes of the performance he magically employs the designer of Ibsen's Doctor Stockman, Shatrov's Blue Horses on the red Grass, Dragon by Schwartz, Don Juan by Mollierre and Midsummer Night's Dream (staged by the late M. Tumanishvili, famous Georgian stage-director), Three Sisters performed in London, Hamlet performed in London, Dostoevski's Crime and Punishment performed in New-Iork and several operas in Georgia. Presently Alexi-Meskhishvili works and teaches in New-Iork.

Gia Kancheli

was born in 1935. In 1963 he graduated Tbilisi State Music Conservatory. From 1972 he is the head of the musical department in the Rustaveli Theatre. Besides Gia Kancheli is well-known in the West as a modern and original composer of several operas, a number of symphonies, several film-scores. Presently, he works in germany and Belgium.

George Gegechkori

Otar Zautashvili

was born in 1932. From 1955 till 1986 worked as an actor. From 1986 he is an executive manager of the Rustaveli Theatre.

Leila Dzigrashvili

was born in 1926. From 1966 she works in the Rustaveli State Theatre as an actress. Her roles are: Poncia in Bernanda Alba's House, Mother-in-law in the Cacasian Chalk Circle.

Nana Pachuashvili

was born in 1933 in Tbilisi. From 1957 he works in the Rustaveli State Theatre as an actor. He has created more than 40 unforgettable roles on the stage. He works with the equal success in different styles and kind of roles. His latest roles are the Second Witch in Macbeth, Lavrenti in the Caucasian Chalk Circle, The first God in the Kind Man from Sechuan. He is also a well-known film-actor.

Guram Sagaradze

was born in 1929. From 1951 he works in the Rustaveli State Theatre as an actor. He is one of the leading actors in the company. He is also a famous film-actor. He has created more than 50 roles and latest works are: First Witch in Macbeth, Attractive but Lance Corporal, Amoral monk and Kazbeg in Caucasian Chalk's Circle.
