Giorgi Tsereteli elected as the OSCE PA President

The Member of the Parliamentary Delegation to OSCE PA, Giorg Tsereteli was elected as the President of OSCE PA. He assumed office on November 9. The decision was conditioned with failure of the party of former President in Parliamentary Elections of Austria.

In line with the paragraph 5.8 of the Rules of Procedure of OSCE PA, in case of absence of the President, the position is occupied by the Vice President. G. Tsereteli occupies the Vice President position since 2012.

At the meeting with the OSCE PA Secretary General, Roberto Montella and Secretariat Office in Copenhagen, G. Tsereteli thanked the former President for activity and noted that he will actively work in the same agenda to address the challenges.

The priorities will be protection of Helsinki principles and OSCE values, as well as enhancement of role of Parliaments in solution of protracted conflicts.

G. Tsereteli will preside at OSCE PA till July, 2018. The new President will be elected in Berlin at annual session.
