Maka Botchorishvili participated in the EuroNest PA Bureau sitting

The EuroNest PA Bureau sitting was held in the city of Yerevan, presided by the Co-Chairs of the Parliamentary Assembly, Maka Botchorishivli and Andrius Kubilius.
The sitting was attended by the MEPs and the Parliamentary Delegations of the EaP countries. The attendees discussed the situation in the EaP countries, the developments in the region and the Ukraine events.
The Bureau made a special statement supporting Ukraine condemning the recognition of the independence of the occupied Donetsk and Luhansk and supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
As the Bureau stated, the annexation and the illegal occupation of the territories of Georgia and Ukraine by Russia, as well as the protracted conflict in Moldavian Transnistria pose an acute threat to the region and Europe.
The EuroNest PA Bureau calls on the EU institutions to maintain the reliable long-term EU membership prospect for the partners with the European aspirations similar to any European state pursuant to Article 49 of the EU Agreement.
Within the Bureau sitting, Maka Botchorishivli overviewed the processes in Georgia, EUAA fulfillment, EU integration plans and the importance of the EU support in this process.
She underlined the security challenges in the region and the gross human rights violations by the Russian occupation regime in the occupied territories.
The EuroNest PA 10th plenary session is scheduled in spring to be presided by the Georgian MP Maka Botchorishivli and MEP Andrius Kubilius.
