Report on the “School League” Activities Presented at a Joint Meeting of Two Committees

At a joint meeting of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs, and the Sports Committees, members heard a report on the activities of the “School League”.
The report was presented by the Head of the “School League” project, Otar Abuladze.
According to the presenter, the “School League,” established in 2019, has developed into a large-scale educational and social initiative, bringing together tens of thousands of students across the country and contributing to the promotion of a healthy and active younger generation.
He noted that during the 2025–2026 academic year, the League covers seven regions of Georgia and includes 15 sports disciplines, with more than 25,000 students participating in the project.
He further indicated that the “School League” plans to expand its scope, introduce additional sports disciplines, improve infrastructure, and increase student participation in school competitions.
“In line with our strategic development plan, our objective is to reach 100,000 participants by the 2028 season”, - Otar Abuladze stated.
The presenter also underlined that the “School League” represents, for many young people, an initial step towards professional sports.
He further noted that the project operates an electronic portal providing information on participants, sports disciplines, rankings, and other relevant data.
Otar Abuladze highlighted the inclusiveness of the programmes and the importance of cooperation with the private sector.
The discussion also addressed the “School League” as a mechanism for fostering youth engagement in sport and for promoting a healthy lifestyle.
