Members of Parliament Addressed Participants of the International Scientific Conference

Vice Speaker of Parliament Nino Tsilosani, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee Mariam Lashkhi, and Chair of the Culture Committee Giorgi Gabunia attended the closing session of the International Scientific Conference for Students and Young Researchers named after Manana Andriadze, organized by the Giorgi Mtatsmindeli University of Chanting and the Georgian Chanting Foundation.

The aim of the international scientific conference was to support the research activities of young scientists and art scholars, deepen international academic dialogue on current issues in musicology and ethnology, and present new research perspectives in the contemporary scientific field. As part of the event, presentations covered diverse topics related to Georgian and world musical culture, ethnomusicology, music education, traditional arts, performance practice, and cultural heritage studies. Young researchers participating in the conference were awarded certificates for their academic achievements.

Members of the parliamentary majority addressed the participants of the conference.

“I would especially like to congratulate the university students and young participants of the conference on the well-deserved certificates awarded to them for their academic achievements. Your participation and involvement in this work are important. I wish you success in serving our country, God, and people with love”, - Nino Tsilosani stated.

According to Mariam Lashkhi,, Georgian chanting is part of Georgian identity and national self-awareness.

“This international scientific conference is of special importance for continuing the promotion of Georgian chanting. Chanting develops through such research, symposiums, and international cooperation, and I would like to thank the organizers of the event for this. Let me remind you that during the Soviet period, when the voice of every nation was suppressed, a Georgian song was sent into space. This was not an ordinary event. It once again highlights the uniqueness of the Georgian voice”, - Mariam Lashkhi noted.

Giorgi Gabunia also spoke about the significance of the international scientific conference. As he noted, it is commendable that the conference bears the name of Manana Andriadze, a figure distinguished by high professionalism. According to Giorgi Gabunia, years ago the University of Chanting was founded in a small space, but it laid the foundation for an important cause. He also thanked Ivane Chkhartishvili, Nana Gothua, and the Georgian Chanting Foundation for their contribution to the university’s development.

“The University of Chanting will soon have a new building. The role of the state in this matter is especially noteworthy. Our traditions and values are a priority for us. Our state supports and does everything possible to protect Georgian culture and national values. This is not merely a job. It is a service to our nation and country”, - Giorgi Gabunia stated.

The conference was also attended by Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze, Deputy Ministers of Education, Science and Youth Baia Kvitsiani and Tamar Makharashvili, Head of the State Folklore Center of Georgia Giorgi Donadze, founder of the Georgian Chanting Foundation Nana Gotua, and representatives of the University of Chanting.

The international scientific conference was dedicated to the memory of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia.
