Georgian Parliamentary Delegation Donated Georgian Books to the Library of the Parliament of Canada
As part of its official visit to Canada, the delegation of the Parliament of Georgia, led by the Vice Speaker of Parliament and Head of the Georgia–Canada Parliamentary Friendship Group, Nino Tsilosani, visited the historic Library of the Parliament of Canada.

Vice Speaker Nino Tsilosani and Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee Mariam Lashkhi donated a collection of Georgian books to the Library of the Parliament of Canada. This initiative laid the foundation for the creation of a dedicated Georgian Corner within the library.

The initiative to establish the Georgian Corner in the Library of the Parliament of Canada was proposed by Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee.

The library, which is accessible exclusively to Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff, received a number of publications, including a Georgian–French edition of Shota Rustaveli’s “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin,” publications on Georgia’s centuries-old history, editions showcasing the Georgian alphabet, and other cultural and historical works.

During the visit, Nino Tsilosani and Mariam Lashkhi also left commemorative entries in the library’s distinguished guests’ book.

“The Library of the Parliament of Canada is one of the oldest historic buildings, preserving an extensive legislative and cultural heritage. In addition to its historic collection, it also serves as a research center. Through this visit, we have the opportunity to establish a Georgian Corner in the library, further showcasing our culture. These Georgian publications will provide Canadian legislators and researchers with a better understanding of Georgia’s unique culture, writing system, and path of state development. By leaving a commemorative note in the distinguished guests’ book, we have opened yet another new chapter in relations between Georgia and Canada. Culture and literature are strong bridges that continuously connect and bring our nations closer together”, - stated Nino Tsilosani.
