Parliament has voted in favour of the early termination of MP Paata Salia’s mandate, with 82 votes in support.

According to the Chair of the Rules and Procedural Issues Committee, David Matikashvili, the matter was placed on the agenda following Paata Salia’s appointment as Minister of Justice.

In line with Article 39, paragraph 5, subparagraph “b” of the Constitution of Georgia and Article 6, paragraph 2, subparagraph “b” of the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, Paata Salia’s mandate as a Member of Parliament has been terminated ahead of schedule.
