Parliament Supported the draft Law on the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia

At the plenary session, First Deputy Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Tornike Cheishvili, presented, in the I reading, the draft law on the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
The legislative initiative, requested for consideration under an expedited procedure, clarifies the requirements for recruitment to the Investigation Service. In particular, it stipulates that a legally capable citizen of Georgia aged at least 18 years (instead of 21) and not more than 40 years (instead of 35), who meets the special qualification requirements established by law and by an order of the Minister of Finance, may be employed by the Service.
The draft law also establishes the maximum service age for employees holding special state ranks, according to their position categories. Specifically, the retirement age is set at 60 years for employees holding junior and intermediate special state ranks, and 65 years for those holding senior and highest special state ranks. In addition, where required by service interests and subject to the relevant conditions, the term of service may be extended beyond the maximum age limit for a period of up to five years.
The Parliament adopted the draft law in the first reading with 76 votes in favor.
