Parliament Granting Vote of Confidence to Governmental Program

Plenary 28 Nov 2024
Parliament Granting Vote of Confidence to Governmental Program

The candidate for Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, presented the government program "2025-2028: Towards Europe with Only Peace, Dignity, and Prosperity" to the Parliament.

Irakli Kobakhidze began his address with a message to the Georgian people.

"I would like to once again express my gratitude to the Georgian people. It is the Georgian people who have entrusted us with the mandate to ensure the stable and peaceful development of the country over the next four years", - he stated.

He highlighted the reforms implemented by the Georgian Dream government and focused on the key priorities for the coming four years: the economy, healthcare, environmental protection, agricultural programs, strengthening the country’s defense capabilities, and visions for foreign and neighborhood policies.

"In 2012, we inherited a dire situation—severe authoritarianism, an economy worth only 28 billion GEL, a budget of 8.5 billion GEL, unemployment nearing 27%, an average salary of 712 GEL, poverty at 30%, no tangible healthcare programs, and a crumbling infrastructure. Today, we see significant progress across all areas. The country operates under a democratic system, the economy has grown to nearly 90 billion GEL, and the budget has increased to 28 billion GEL. Unemployment has halved, the average salary exceeds 2,000 GEL, 680,000 people have overcome poverty, the universal healthcare program has been introduced, and infrastructure has vastly improved. Care for these areas will continue over the next four years", - I. Kobakhidze stated.

He emphasized that the government’s primary goals remain the eradication of poverty and the peaceful restoration of Georgia’s territorial integrity. Achieving these goals, he noted, depends on both the government’s actions and global trends and developments in the region.

"We can once again pledge to the Georgian public that we will fulfill the government program with integrity. This will ensure the country’s economic progress, improve the social conditions of our citizens, and strengthen Georgia’s international standing. The result of all this will be the achievement of our national objectives and Georgia’s membership in the European Union. We will move forward consistently to defend our national interests", - Irakli Kobakhidze concluded.
