Supervisory Board of the State Insurance Supervision Service held Meeting at Parliament

A meeting of the Supervisory Board of the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia was held at the Parliament of Georgia.

The meeting was attended by the Chair of the Supervisory Board, Paata Kvizhinadze; the Board’s permanent members: Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili; Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture David Songulashvili; President of the Georgian Business Association Soso Pkhakadze; and President of the Georgian Employers’ Association Elguja Meladze. Also attending were the Head of the State Insurance Supervision Service, David Onoprishvili; Deputy Minister of IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Affairs Giorgi Tsagareishvili; and Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili.

The Head of the State Insurance Supervision Service, David Onoprishvili, presented the insurance sector's 2025 Annual Report and the sector's performance results for the first five months of 2026.

The meeting focused on the sector's achievements, current challenges, and future development plans.

According to Paata Kvizhinadze, Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee and Chair of the Supervisory Board, it is impossible to build a modern, Western-style developed country without a well-developed insurance sector. He noted that while Georgia continues to record strong economic growth, the insurance sector is expanding at an even faster pace than the economy as a whole.

"Today, Georgia's insurance sector comprises 19 insurance companies. Statistical data confirm that the insurance market continues to develop steadily and rapidly. In 2025, the sector's turnover reached GEL 1.411 billion, representing a 12 per cent increase compared to the previous year. During the meeting, we also discussed a number of topical issues, including the further development of insurance products”, - the Chair of the Supervisory Board stated.
