Reform Group Hosting Members of Supreme Council Signing the Act on Restoration of State Independence of Georgia

The political group "Reform Group" held an event in the parliament dedicated to the March 31, 1991 referendum, during which they hosted members of the Supreme Council who signed the Act on the Restoration of State Independence.

According to Giorgi Vashadze, a member of the "Reform Group", this day is important for our country, because on this day stands the foundation of Georgia's independence and freedom.

"On this day, March 31, 31 years ago, 98.9% of the Georgian population voted in favor of the restoration of independence of Georgia. I believe that we should all commemorate this day because it is the cornerstone of Georgia's independence and freedom. We are appreciating the persons who signed the Act of Restoration of Independence today as a symbolic gesture of our gratitude to them. We've launched an endeavor to thank them for their contributions to certain legislative projects. On a day like today, when we talk about national consensus, it is critical to have unity and consensus on such matters in order to construct a strong state”, - Giorgi Vashadze said.

On March 31, 1991, 98.9% of Georgia's voting population backed the restoration of state independence in a nationwide referendum.
