The Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee approved the Draft Law on the Establishment of the Tsiv-Gombori National Park

At a sitting of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, Deputy Environmental Protection and Agriculture Minister Zurab Ezugbaia presented, in the I reading, the draft law “On the Establishment and Management of the Tsiv-Gombori Protected Areas,” as well as the accompanying draft Administrative Offences Code.

According to the draft law, the Tsiv-Gombori National Park will be established on an area of 21,761 hectares within the administrative boundaries of the Sagarejo, Gurjaani, and Telavi municipalities. The legislative initiative also provides for the creation of the Signagi Strict Nature Reserve and the Tsiv-Gombori Protected Landscape.

According to the presenter, the establishment of the Tsiv-Gombori National Park will promote the development of ecotourism in the region and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.

He stated that the Tsiv-Gombori National Park and the Signagi Strict Nature Reserve will be managed by the Agency of Protected Areas, while the Tsiv-Gombori Protected Landscape will be managed by the Gurjaani Municipality within the framework of delegated authority.

Deputy Infrastructure Minister Mzia Giorgobiani presented the ratification document — the Letter Agreement on Change No. 5 to the “Loan Agreement between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank” dated June 12, 2027.

According to the presenter, the letter agreement envisages the extension of the loan disbursement period and the agreement closing date.

Accordingly, under the amendment, the availability deadline was set as June 31, 2026, while the closing date was set as December 31, 2026.

The Committee approved the documents.
