The meeting of Bidzina Gegidze and Merab Bolkvadze proving the fight for maintenance of the free areas in the city to be positive

The Faction “Georgian Dream – for Powerful Georgia” is active in maintenance and development of the green zones and free areas in the city.

The Faction members strive to protect the high public interest for healthy environ free from urban occupation. The Faction has publicly condemned constructions in the recreational zones and slide-risky areas and called on the City Government to restrict chaotic construction in central districts and green spaces.

After adoption of the master plan, the Chair of the Faction, B. Gegidze and the author of the draft master plan, M. Bolkvadze held the meeting and discussed zonal changes for protection of recreational areas.

The parties emphasized the questions concerning the private lands within the forest zone and touched upon restriction of the constructions at Nino Zhvania Street.

According to B. Gegidze, "It is the greatest achievement to grant N. Zhvania street as the forest zone status which annuls the scheduled construction of 6 blocks on this territory: the city needed the sustainable development plan and what we have as a result? – the construction permits on the territories adjacent to Mziuri Park, in high geo-risky areas, at Zvhania Street etc. Threat of constructions of high buildings in recreational zones still is a problem. The result concerning Zhvania street shall serve the model regarding other territories, including Kandelaki Street, Mziuri park under chaotic constructions with prejudice to the insolation norms”.

M. Bolkvadze confirmed that the zonal change of Zhvania street aimed at protection of the free area.

The parties touched upon the zonal changes in Tskneti. B. Gegidze elucidated that the land plots of the population appeared within the recreational and forest zones. “The part of the population expresses discontent about restriction of the constructions on their land as these territories have been acquired for the purpose to build the residential houses. According to the new master plan, zonal changes prohibit constructions on private lands”.

M. Bolkvadze stated that “Development of constructions in the forest zone shall not entail chaotic mastering of the green zones. Development of the constructions adjacent to the city aims at living in the recreational areas, which shall not be restricted even with constructions on the private lands. However, it does not exclude adequate changes regarding the contours of the zones. The City Government shall hold the survey and specify the contours. The municipalities shall also consider the perspectives of replacement with adherence to the proportionality principle”.

The master plan changes shall ensure protection of public interests, B. Gegidze noted.
