Meeting of Zaza Lominadze and Vladimir Kakhadze with WHO Experts

The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Zaza Lominadze and his First Deputy, Vladimir Kakhadze met with a group of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO).

As noted, the experts are assigned to estimate the county's preparedness to maintain a malaria-free status at a local level and submit a respective opinion to the WHO Director General. Since 2013, the anti-malaria measures have been funded from the state budget. The government ensures the acquisition of the preparations and medicines to eliminate imported malaria.

According to Z. Lominadze, the country's primary objective is to maintain malaria-free status, which became feasible through wide-scale and multi-sector anti-malaria remedies.

As he added, it is noteworthy that none of malaria cases have been detected since 2013.
