The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee deliberated on the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection for the II reading

The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee deliberated on and approved the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection and the companion Bills for the II reading.

According to the amendments, the Legal Entities of Public Law — the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Personal Data Protection Service — will be abolished on 2 March 2026, and their functions and powers will be transferred to the State Audit Office.

Originally, the abolition of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Personal Data Protection Service was planned for 1 March 2026. However, as the reporter, Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee, Archil Gorduladze, explained, since 1 March falls on a Sunday, it was decided that the changes would enter into force on 2 March.

As Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Rati Ionatamishvili noted, the draft laws under consideration include significant institutional changes.

The authors and initiators of the legislative amendments are MPs: Archil Gorduladze, Tornike Cheishvili, Aleksandre Tabatadze, Davit Matikashvili, Rati Ionatamishvili, Aluda Gudushauri, Tengiz Sharmanashvili, Guram Macharashvili, and Akaki Aladashvili.
