Eka Sepashvili Addressed the Session of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR)
The Secretary of the Interim Commission on Women’s and Children’s Issues, Eka Sepashvili, is participating in the session of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) in Geneva.

In her address, Eka Sepashvili spoke about the human rights situation in the territories of Georgia occupied by the Russian Federation.

“According to the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, it has already been established that the rights of our citizens residing in these territories are being grossly violated. Among them are violations of the right to private property, the right to receive education in the native language, and the right to freedom of movement. There have been fatal cases in which certain individuals were not allowed to cross the occupation line in order to receive healthcare services offered by the Government of Georgia”, - Eka Sepashvili stated.

According to her, the State Budget of Georgia includes provisions for the free delivery of healthcare, education, and other services to citizens residing in the occupied territories.

In her remarks at the CESCR session, Eka Sepashvili also noted that there is no international monitoring mechanism operating in the occupied territories to oversee the protection of human rights.

“As is well known, the work of international monitoring missions is restricted by the Russian occupation forces”, - she stated
