The Health Care and Social Issues Committee held a meeting in Tskaltubo for consideration of the reform of financing of hospital services

The Committee held an offsite meeting in Tskaltubo within its oversight activity to discuss the hospital services financing reform.


The Committee members invited the representatives of the clinics of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions at the meeting for the consideration of the Hospital Service Financing Reform Outcomes and Challenges.


The meeting was as well attended by the Single Mandate MPs; the Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Protection, Mikheil Sarjveladze; his First Deputy, Tamar Gabunia; and the Deputy Minister, Tea Giorgadze.


The discussion included the DRG financing models, their advantages and disadvantages. The attendees also heard the officials of the clinics.


“At the meeting, we agreed on intensive communication with the field representatives; we intend to hold meetings in various regions to jointly outline the solutions and make the decision on the hospital service financing issues”, - the Chair of the Committee, Zaza Lominadze noted.


The offsite meeting was backed by the UNDP Project “Stronger Parliamentary Institutions in Georgia”.
