Mariam Lashkhi and Imeda Nikuradze Visited the Institute of History and Ethnology

On 5 February 2026, the Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, Mariam Lashkhi, and Committee member Imeda Nikuradze visited the Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology, where they met with the Institute’s Director, Giorgi Cheishvili, and research staff.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the key challenges facing the Institute and possible ways to address them.

Particular attention was paid to issues related to the development of scientific activity and infrastructure.

Members of Parliament toured the historical and ethnological archives and the library repository, where they were introduced to unique scholarly materials preserved on site.

“One of the main priorities of the education reform is the development of science. This includes both improving the legislative framework in the field of science and supporting scientific activity in order to fully utilize and realize our country’s scientific potential. It is important to preserve the rich historical heritage concentrated in this Institute. It is also essential to ensure the active involvement of young researchers in the research process and to support their professional development,” - Mariam Lashkhi stated.
