The Parliament discussed the legal initiative of Roman Gotsiridze, the Draft Law on the National Academy of Sciences.

According to the author, the amendments aim at the reorganization of the National Academy of Sciences and the Academy of the Agrarian Sciences. Per his elucidations, the amendments concern the financing model of the Academy of Sciences, namely, the state finances the full members of the Academy solely since January 1, 2007, the corresponding members and the scholarship holders that held the respective status before the adoption of the Law. Hence, the budgetary financing of the staff of the Academy of Sciences shall be maintained as of December 31, 2026.

The Parliament rejected the legal initiative.
