The Draft Law on Public Service adopted for the III reading

The Parliament discussed and adopted the Draft Law on Public Service for the III reading and 79 votes.
The amendments regulate the issues of the appointment on the vacant positions of the public servant, the assessment of the public servant by his/her immediate supervisor, and the reorganization in the public institutions.
According to the reporter, the Chair of the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, David Matikashvili, the Committee held consultations with all parties concerned after the I reading, and took the remarks of the Public Defender into account.
“These are significant changes introduced to the Law as a result of the consultations, envisaging that the Heads of the initial structural units and their deputies shall become the persons engaged based on the administrative contracts”, - he stated.
At that, the aforementioned persons shall enjoy the same salaries as before their appointment based on the administrative contracts. As he noted, the reorganization shall not automatically lead to the direct termination of the labor relations in any form.
The competition called as a result of the reorganization determines the employees that will remain employed.
