The Parliament approved the Draft Election Code for the III reading

The Parliament discussed for the III reading the Draft Organic Law on Election Code; the Draft was approved by 84 MPs. Pursuant to the Draft, the Assembly of the Municipal Community shall be composed of 15 members elected with the proportional system and one member per the settlements on the respective territory (villages, boroughs, cities) with the majoritarian system.


As envisaged, two members of the Assembly shall be elected with the majoritarian system in the administrative center of the Municipal Community the number of electors of which exceeds 4000 but is under 10 000; three members shall be elected, if the number of electors exceeds 10 000 but is under 20 000; four members shall be elected if the number exceeds 20 000 but is under 25 000; and five members - if the number exceeds 35 000. The rules of the composition of the Tbilisi City Assembly are different, namely, the Assembly consists of 50 members, 25 of which are elected on the territory of the single-mandate electoral districts, and 25 - on the whole territory of Tbilisi.


As the reporter, the Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, Givi Mikanadze elucidated, no modifications have been made in the Draft upon consideration by the Committee.
