Rati Ionatamishvili Met with Members of the Student Parliament and Government

Chair of the Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee, Rati Ionatamishvili, met with members of the Student Parliament and Student Government.
Rati Ionatamishvili spoke to the students about the Committee’s powers and responsibilities, including participation in legislative activities, ensuring oversight of the activities of the Government of Georgia and other bodies accountable to Parliament, reviewing the annual report submitted by the Public Defender of Georgia on the state of human rights and freedoms in the country, and monitoring the implementation of measures aimed at fulfilling the tasks defined by parliamentary resolutions based on that report.
The Committee Chair also focused on the Constitution of Georgia, the law on the rights of persons with disabilities, the Code on the Rights of the Child, anti-discrimination legislation, and various international conventions.
The meeting was held in a question-and-answer format.
Rati Ionatamishvili answered questions from members of the Student Parliament and Government on issues including women’s rights, prisoners’ rights and their rehabilitation and resocialization, combating discrimination, and other related topics.
