The Standing Audit Group for Reviewing State Audit Office Reports, operating under the Budget and Finance Committee, reviewed two reports presented by Zaza Shekiladze, Head of the Audit Department for Defense, Public Order and Security Sector of the State Audit Office.

While presenting the “Compliance Audit Report on Asset Management and Procurement of the LEPL Scientific-Technical Center ‘Delta’,” Zaza Shekiladze stated that the audit covered the years 2022–2023 and resulted in the issuance of 10 recommendations.

According to him, the audit identified findings related to deficiencies in asset management, unused assets, unregistered property, shortcomings in the storage and use of military equipment and ammunition, disposal-related issues, weaknesses in the management of subsidiary companies, as well as the management of scrap metal and property obtained through asset dismantling.

Zaza Shekiladze noted that nine recommendations were issued regarding these issues, while the tenth recommendation concerned public procurement procedures.

Representatives of the Scientific-Technical Center “Delta” spoke about the progress made in implementing the recommendations.

The presenter also introduced the compliance audit report on asset management and state procurement of the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

According to him, the audit covered the years 2020–2022 and resulted in five recommendations.

Zaza Shekiladze stated that the audit findings concerned several issues, including the insufficient number and unsatisfactory condition of fire-rescue facilities, challenges in managing specialized vehicles and firefighting/rescue equipment, shortcomings in the utilization of firefighting equipment resources, deficiencies in managing state reserves and inventory processes, and other related matters.

He also noted that monitoring of the implementation of the recommendations is ongoing.
