Sports Committee Working Group held Meeting on Development of Sports and Physical Education

Sports Committee Working Group held Meeting on Development of Sports and Physical Education

Members of the working group established by the Sports Committee to support the development of sports and physical education — Shota Khabareli and Vladimer Bozhadze — held a meeting with representatives of the executive branch.

The meeting focused on the remuneration of coaches employed in sports sections across Georgia’s municipalities, as well as the improvement of school sports infrastructure. Participants presented their views on the issues discussed and spoke about the needs related to the development and promotion of sports in the regions.

“The working group supporting the development of sports and physical education is addressing problematic issues. One of the major challenges is the remuneration of coaches. In the regions, coaches work for minimum wages. We want to bring the issue of increasing their salaries to the forefront. This is especially important given that multifunctional sports infrastructure and facilities are currently being built in municipalities throughout the country. Accordingly, it is essential that qualified coaches employed in the new sports halls receive appropriate compensation”, - stated working group member and First Deputy Chair of the Sports Committee, Shota Khabareli.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Sports Irakli Dolaberidze, Head of the Economic Department of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth Levan Kereselidze, Deputy Director of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement Ketevan Kobakhidze, and Head of the Vocational Education Quality Assurance Service Nani Dalakishvili.
