The Committees at the joint sitting heard the activity reports of higher art educational institutions

At the joint sitting of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs, and the Culture Committees, reports on the activities of higher artistic and creative educational institutions were heard.
The reports were introduced by the Tbilisi Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatoire, the Tbilisi Apolon Kutateladze State Academy of Arts, the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University, and the Giorgi Mtatsmindeli Chanting University.
The report on the activities of the Tbilisi Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatoire was delivered by its Rector, Giorgi Vachnadze.
According to him, the Conservatoire implements bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and certificate educational programs. As the Rector noted, an important development is that in 2025 the Conservatoire received international accreditation for the first time and obtained the right to offer English-language programs.
The speaker also discussed scientific and research activities, international cooperation, and existing challenges. He noted that, despite higher education reforms, the Conservatoire has retained its four-year bachelor’s program format.
At the sitting, the report on the activities of the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University was presented by its Rector, Giorgi Shalutashvili.
The speaker reviewed the history of the university and noted that the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University is one of the distinguished higher education institutions in the world.
Giorgi Shalutashvili spoke about educational programs, publishing activities, and international partnerships.
He placed particular emphasis on international projects and noted that a book on Georgian theatre and film directors will be published and distributed to leading artistic higher education institutions worldwide.
The Rector of the Tbilisi Apolon Kutateladze State Academy of Arts, Karaman Kutateladze, spoke about the importance of the Academy for the country. He reviewed various educational programs and highlighted the challenges facing the Academy.
The activities of the Giorgi Mtatsmindeli Chanting University were presented by the Vice-Rector, Tatia Chkheidze. According to her, the University obtained authorization in 2023 and was granted university status. She noted that the University offers bachelor’s and master’s programs. According to her information, bachelor’s studies last four years, while master’s studies last two years.
The speaker also noted as an important development that the Giorgi Mtatsmindeli Chanting University is moving to a new building.
Tatia Chkheidze also focused on university activities, student expeditions, and international partnerships.
As noted, it is important to openly discuss existing challenges and address them. Timely resolution of problems requires dialogue among all parties.
