Culture Committee Approving Action Plan for 2025

The Culture Committee has approved its 2025 Action Plan in accordance with Article 43 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Georgia.
According to Committee Chair Giorgi Gabunia, the Committee’s key priorities will include:
Developing evidence-based policy documents and coordinating legislative activities; Initiating draft laws by the Committee and its members; Reviewing legislative initiatives submitted by the government in the field of culture; Overseeing the implementation of laws and monitoring the performance of state organizations operating in the sector; Ensuring effective oversight of legislative compliance and implementation of Committee-issued recommendations; Supervising the fulfillment of commitments under the EU-Georgia Association Agreement; Strengthening financial oversight and conducting parliamentary inquiries and hearings on priority cultural issues; Enhancing communication on Committee activities and sectoral developments; Increasing public engagement through improved outreach and transparency; Promoting open governance principles and fostering collaboration with NGOs, academia, private sector representatives, and the media; Establishing closer ties with Georgian students, scholars, and artists abroad and involving them in relevant Committee projects; Expanding international partnerships and deepening cooperation with donor organizations; Raising awareness of the Committee’s work among stakeholders; Strengthening the internal organizational capacity of the Committee for more effective legislative and oversight functions; Enhancing the expertise of Committee members and staff by efficiently utilizing external expert assistance.
"The primary priority of the Committee, of course, will be legislative work and close coordination with the Ministry of Culture. Additionally, we will work closely with the Ministry on all major cultural sector issues, addressing key challenges and seeking effective solutions", - Giorgi Gabunia stated.
