Shalva Papuashvili met with the President of Bulgaria

The Speaker of the Parliament, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the President of Bulgaria, Mr. Rumen Radev.
It was noted that the friendly and good-neighbourly relations between Georgia and Bulgaria span centuries.
Shalva Papuashvili expressed his gratitude for Bulgaria’s support of Georgia’s territorial integrity, as well as for Bulgaria’s valuable contribution to the EUMM in Georgia.
The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including inter-parliamentary relations. Shalva Papuashvili expressed readiness to further intensify ties between the legislative bodies.
The meeting also underscored the importance of promoting cooperation and enhanced connectivity between Georgia and Bulgaria as Black Sea states. Shalva Papuashvili welcomed Bulgaria’s participation in the Black Sea submarine cable project.
The discussion additionally touched upon Georgia-EU relations. Shalva Papuashvili stated that Georgia will continue working toward meeting the Association Agreement commitments. He also emphasized Georgia’s role as a Middle Corridor country in contributing to Europe’s energy independence.
The meeting was held within the framework of Shalva Papuashvili’s and the parliamentary delegation’s official visit to Bulgaria, which relates to their participation in the PABSEC General Assembly. The parliamentary delegation includes Irakli Mezurnishvili, Head of Georgia’s Permanent Delegation to PABSEC, and Aluda Gudushauri, First Deputy Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee.
