First-Quarter Execution of Georgia’s 2026 State Budget Reviewed at a Joint Meeting of the Sports and Diaspora Committees

At a joint meeting of the Sports, and the Diaspora Committees, the First Deputy Finance Minister, Giorgi Kakauridze, presented information on the execution of Georgia’s 2026 State Budget for the first quarter.

The presenter addressed the economic parameters of the state budget, revenues derived from foreign trade and tourism, as well as budgetary expenditures.

In March 2026, real GDP growth amounted to 10.7% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, while the average real growth rate for the first quarter stood at 9.1%.

According to him, in the first quarter of 2026, external trade turnover amounted to USD 5.867 billion, of which USD 1.723 billion accounted for exports.

The First Deputy Minister also spoke about revenues from tourism.

He noted that, despite a decrease in tourist inflows from certain countries due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Georgia received close to one million visitors in the first quarter, with tourism revenues amounting to USD 829 million.

Giorgi Kakauridze also presented data on the revenue and expenditure components of the consolidated and state budgets. He further addressed the execution rates of budget allocations by state institutions, noting that during the reporting period, the Foreign Affairs Ministry utilized 91.2% of its allocated funding, while the Sports Ministry utilized 76%.

He explained that the relatively lower execution rate of the Sports Ministry is linked to various international tournaments scheduled to be held in Georgia throughout the year; accordingly, the ministry is expected to fully utilize its allocated budget by the end of the fiscal year.

The Committees took note of the report.
